A child’s smile is one of the most beautiful sights in the world. For the smile of our children to also be a symbol of health, from their earliest years it is worth taking measures to develop healthy habits concerning appropriate oral health and introduce the child to a specialist in pediatric dentistry.
Over 90% of children in Poland suffer from caries. Troubles with teeth can begin at the stage of primary teeth. According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry these problems can be avoided by taking the child to the dentist no later than before its first birthday. Pediatric dentistry specialists, working in Dentalux clinics, recommend to see a Pedodontist when the child’s first tooth appears and, of course, before the first tooth starts to hurt. This advice is in order to prevent early childhood cavities and other problems, to find out the child's risk of developing caries, and to learn how to manage diet, hygiene and fluoride.
Appropriate preventive measures from both the dentist and conscious parents can reduce by half, the risk of caries in little patient’s teeth.
In Dentalux clinics we are trying to dispel the myth that every visit to the dentist is associated with fear and pain. Our treatment of children takes place in a friendly environment. We invite all children and their parents to a first time visit. This appointment aims to familiarize the child with the doctor, hygienist, dental office, and the equipment used. During this visit, the little patient can have some fun – sightseeing the office, checking out dental tools, having a “ride” on a dental chair like in a lift, listening to some interesting stories about teeth, and asking questions. Both doctor and assistant will try to answer all of them.
The most common problem that pediatric dentists face is tooth decay and its complications. For comfortable and completely painless treatment, we use topical anesthetic gels combined with The Wand™ system (which looks and acts like a magic wand) or traditional methods of administering local anesthesia, and in difficult cases - general anesthesia.
Tooth cavities are treated using state-of-the-art dental materials, for example, colourful glitter composite Twinky Star fillings, which are loved by children.
Pedodontists working at our clinics pay great consideration to prophylaxis. Prevention is better than cure - and in accordance with this principle, pediatric dentists apply fluoride varnish and dental sealants (to protect the whole tooth or its pits and fissures from caries), and also ensure that every little patient (with the assistance of a parent) learns the principles of proper oral hygiene.
