Maintenance dentistry involves treatment against dental caries (decay), as well as
prophylaxis as it is generally understood. It includes, among other things,
treatment of dental cavities, treatment of pulpal diseases (root canal treatment),
removal of dental deposit and tartar, training in proper tooth-brushing
and application of oral hygiene products, and prevention of caries through the use
of fluoride products.
